Dak Lak: In response to Earth Hour (02/04/2019, 10:18)

On March 30th, Dak Lak Provincial Youth Union in collaboration with the Department of Industry and Trade and Dak Lak Electricity Company organized a program in response to the Earth Hour 2019 under the theme “SAVE ENERGY, SAVE EARTH” at the Provincial Cultural Center.

Earth Hour is a worldwide movement organized by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). The event is held annually encouraging the community to effectively use energy, save energy and to reduce CO2 emissions, making a contribution to protecting the environment before global climate change. Earth Hour Campaign 2019 calls on individuals and businesses worldwide to turn off electric equipments for one hour on the last Saturday of March every year.

The campaign was started in Sydney (Australia) in 2007 and it has grown to engage more than 7,000 cities and attracted thousands of people. Vietnam officially participated in Earth Hour Campaign in 2009 and all 63 provinces and cities have organized activities to enjoy the Earth Hour with many exciting activities, attracting the attention of many organizations, agencies and people.

This annual event has great significance aiming at implementing propaganda and educational activities to raise the awareness of saving electricity, saving energy; at the same time promote the role of young people volunteering to protect the environment, respond to climate change, speed up scientific research activities, invention, initiatives and solutions on new energy sources which are friendly to the environment.

The art performance conveyed a message to the community about saving electricity, both bringing economic benefits and contributing to protecting our living environment.

In the afternoon of March 30th, the Organizing Committee marched by bicycle to propagandize and mobilize each family and business in the province to join hands in response to the Earth Hour in 2019.
