On November 9, Krong Nang District People's Committee in collaboration with Damaca Nguyen Phuong Joint Stock Company and OLTY (Japan) held a ceremony to celebrate the first official shipment of Krong Nang Macadamia to the Japanese market.

Attending the ceremony were Mr. Le Van Nghia – Chair of the Inspection Commission of the Provincial Party Committee; Mr. Takuro Ohtsuka – General Director – CEO of OLTY; leaders of related departments, branches, enterprises and associations.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Vu Van My - Chairman of the District People's Committee stated that the first official export of "Krong Nang Macadamia Nuts" to the Japanese market is the result of long-term efforts of the government and farmers of Krong Nang district.
This event is a special milestone, starting the journey of confidently gaining access to the international market. This is also considered a great opportunity to promote the value of Vietnam's macadamia nuts and increase local farmers’ income.

Macadamia has been planted in Krong Nang district since 2003 following to the pilot model funded by the General Department of Forestry in Dliêya and Phu Loc communes with the method of intercropping in coffee gardens. Up to now, the whole district has 2,363 hectares of macadamia, of which productive area is more than 1,000 hectares, with a yield of 17.9 quintals/hectare, output of more than 1,700 tons.

Macadamia nuts initially gaining access into large and high-standard markets around the world will open up opportunities for the development of macadamia sector in Vietnam in general, Dak Lak and Krong Nang district in particular. On the other hand, investors and businesses in the district have more opportunities to connect and cooperate with large enterprises in the country and in the world to promote the consumption of products, the development of agricultural production towards applying clean and sustainable high technologies.

In addition, the district also has over 22 macadamia nut processing establishments, mainly for nut separation, drying, packaging, dehumidification; and one macadamia deep processing facility, which produces high quality macadamia nuts and macadamia chocolate products. These facilities have been upgraded to meet the purchasing and processing requirements for farmers and businesses.

Macadamia products of Krong Nang district have been certified by the National Office of Intellectual Property (Ministry of Science and Technology) with the official trademark “KRONG NANG MACADAMIA”. The quality of macadamia nuts in Krong Nang district is analyzed and evaluated as very high.
In particular, macadamia products of DAMACA Nguyen Phuong Joint Stock Company have been granted the local 4-star OCOP product certificate and typical rural industry product certificate of the province in 2021 and of the region in 2022.
At the ceremony, representatives of businesses of both sides: DAMACA Nguyen Phuong Joint Stock Company and OLTY Company (Japan) signed a contract for exclusive distribution in the Japanese market for dried macadamia nut products of DAMACA Nguyen Phuong Company.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Phuong - Director of Damaca Nguyen Phuong Joint Stock Company said that after 6 years of establishment, the company has launched products made from Macadamia such as: Dried Macadamia; Macadamia Oil; Chocolate Macadamia and is researching to develop Macadamia Milk Powder; Macadamia nuts with flavors and deep-processed products applying science and technology to improve productivity and product quality.
On September 15, 2022, the two sides agreed to sign an exclusive distribution contract in the Japanese market for the dried macadamia nuts of Damaca Nguyen Phuong Company.
In October 2022, the sample shipment was present at ECOLife Foods Company, and also at 200 YAOKO supermarkets throughout Japan and on several Japanese e-commerce sites.
Initially, the product has been well received by the Japanese market and the partner and the supermarkets have placed the first large order since November 9, 2022. The signing ceremony will bring more opportunities for Vietnam's macadamia products gain access sustainably in the Japanese market.
