Launching "Tree Planting Festival in Grateful Remembrance of President Ho Chi Minh" and Responding to World Environment Day on June 5th (10/06/2024, 09:02)

On the morning of June 5th, the People's Committee of Buon Ma Thuot City organized the launching ceremony of the "Tree Planting Festival in Grateful Remembrance of President Ho Chi Minh" and responded to World Environment Day on June 5th in Tu An Ward.

This is a practical activity to commemorate the 134th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's Birthday (19/5/1890 - 19/5/2024), the 120th anniversary of the establishment of Dak Lak Province, and the 120th anniversary of the formation and development of Buon Ma Thuot (22/11/1904 - 22/11/2024); to promote the movement of "Studying and Following the Ideology, Morality, and Style of Ho Chi Minh"; to contribute to the successful implementation of the "One Billion Trees Planted" program launched by the Government and to respond to World Environment Day (June 5th, 2024) with the theme "Restoration of Land, Drought and Desertification Prevention."

Attending the ceremony were Party Central Committee Member, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Dinh Trung; Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Tran Phu Hung; Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Hoai Duong; Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the City People's Council of Buon Ma Thuot City Tu Thai Giang, along with representatives of leaders from relevant departments, sectors, and units.

In recent years, all levels of government, sectors, localities, units, organizations, and people in the province have actively responded to and participated in the tree planting and forestation movement. In 2023, afforestation and tree planting work in the province yielded positive results, with a total area of ​​4,590.3 hectares planted, achieving 252.6% of the plan.

Realizing the great significance of tree planting and the importance of greenery to human life and environmental protection, Dak Lak Province in general, and Buon Ma Thuot City in particular, have always paid attention to developing a green tree system with diverse species characteristic of the Central Highlands region.

In Buon Ma Thuot City, the greenery ratio per capita is 17.2 m², and within the inner city, it is 8.3 m² per capita, making it one of the cities with the highest greenery ratio in the country. The city's green tree system has actively contributed to environmental protection, actively preventing and combating natural disasters, becoming an urban highlight, contributing to beautifying the natural landscape, and promoting socio-economic development in Dak Lak Province and Buon Ma Thuot City in particular.

In addition to focusing on planting green trees, Buon Ma Thuot City also identifies environmental protection as a vital issue for humanity, as a factor in ensuring people's health and quality of life, contributing significantly to the socio-economic development and national defense-security of the city.

To continue effectively implementing solutions for nature and environmental protection, in the coming time, all levels of government, sectors, units, and localities in the province will continue to promote forest protection and development activities, efficiently utilize land and water resources, protect land surfaces; tightly control sources of waste from construction, industrial, and agricultural activities; organize waste sorting activities at the source; enhance the application of advanced, environmentally friendly technologies, circular economic models towards green economic development; strengthen the mobilization of the Joint Campaign to protect resources, protect the environment, respond to climate change through practical and effective actions; strengthen the replication of effective models in land restoration, drought and desertification prevention...

After the launching ceremony, delegates participated in planting 170 linden trees donated by 2/9 Import-Export Company Dak Lak and Dakman Company in the median strip of Vo Nguyen Giap Street.
