On the morning of January 9, a delegation from Mondulkiri Province, Kingdom of Cambodia, led by Mr. Loun So Pheap, Deputy Governor, paid a courtesy call to the leadership of the Dak Lak Provincial People’s Committee.
The reception was chaired by comrade Ta Anh Tuan, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, with the attendance of leaders from relevant provincial departments and agencies.
Chairman Ta Anh Tuan extended a warm welcome to the Mondulkiri delegation during the first days of 2026. He emphasized that the relationship between the two provinces has been increasingly developed and closer over time. He also provided information to the visiting leaders about the socio-economic situation of Dak Lak Province in particular and Vietnam in general. Notably, since July 1, 2025, Dak Lak Province has officially merged with Phu Yen Province, forming a new Dak Lak Province with a total area of over 18,000 square kilometers and 102 administrative units at the commune level, featuring a coastline of 189 kilometers and nearly 72 kilometers of border with Mondulkiri Province.

With the new position and conditions, Chairman of the People's Committee of Dak Lak Province, Ta Anh Tuan, proposed that both sides need to focus on coordinating the implementation of key contents, including: strengthening trade promotion, connecting businesses, and supporting investment projects, while promptly addressing difficulties for units operating in the area. He suggested that the two provinces continue to create conditions for twinning activities between the border communes of Dak Lak Province and the neighboring districts of Mondulkiri Province. Regarding border infrastructure, the provincial People's Committee hopes that Cambodia will support the opening of the road from Chi Miet Border Gate - Dak Rue to the center of Ko Nhek District to meet the conditions for clearance, contributing to enhanced trade.

Dak Lak committed to encouraging local enterprises to expand investments in Cambodia, focusing on economic growth paired with social welfare. The departments and sectors of both provinces will continue to build cooperation programs in education, healthcare, human resource training, environmental protection, and social welfare.

To ensure these initiatives are implemented seamlessly, the Chairman emphasized the necessity of regular exchanges between specialized agencies, particularly those responsible for foreign affairs. This cooperation will lay a solid foundation for future ventures in the marine economy and high-tech agricultural models.
On behalf of the provincial leadership, Chairman Ta Anh Tuan wished Mr. Loun So Pheap and the delegation health, happiness, and success in the New Year 2026, expressing confidence in the sustainable development of the Dak Lak-Mondulkiri friendship.
With the spirit of friendly neighbors, equal cooperation, and mutual development, Dak Lak Province believes that the relationship between Dak Lak and Mondulkiri will continue to be nurtured, deepening over time and bringing practical benefits to the people and business communities of both localities, emphasized Chairman Ta Anh Tuan.
In response, Mr. Loun So Pheap conveyed the regards of Mondulkiri Governor Thong Sa Vun to the authorities and people of Dak Lak. He affirmed that, as two provinces sharing a border, Mondulkiri and Dak Lak have maintained a friendly neighborly relationship, cooperation, and development over time.

Deputy Governor Loun So Pheap stated that the working visit coincided with the delegation's participation in the conference to summarize the results of the Dak Lak - Mondulkiri Rubber Development Company. Recently, the project of Dak Lak Rubber Joint Stock Company operating in Mondulkiri province has not only had economic significance but also created many jobs for local labor, enhanced social security, and built schools, healthcare facilities, and clean water projects. Mondulkiri expressed a strong desire to expedite the opening of the Dak Rue – Chi Miet border gate and deepen cooperation in agriculture, a sector where Dak Lak holds significant expertise.
