The Department of Transport has requested project management boards, district, town, and city People's Committees, as well as contractors working on national and provincial highways under its management, to proactively respond to and mitigate the impacts of natural disasters to ensure the smooth conduct of the 2024 High School Graduation Exam.

Ensuring the safety of vehicles during the entire period of the 2024 High School Graduation Exam.

Accordingly, the Department of Transport has urged the relevant units to mobilize all forces, vehicles, and equipment to remove landslide debris at locations experiencing blockages, ensuring safety for vehicles in transit. They are to clear blocked culverts and drainage ditches to prevent road surface flooding and water overflow. There is a focus on inspecting and reviewing areas at risk of flooding, landslides, and flash floods to develop response plans and implement long-distance traffic rerouting. In the event of traffic congestion, timely solutions must be enacted to prevent prolonged blockages that could disrupt the exam process.

Additionally, forces will be stationed to monitor and guide traffic at locations prone to deep water flooding and swift currents, especially at fords, overflows, ferries, floating bridges, and boat crossings. When necessary, roads will be barricaded, and traffic will be prohibited, coupled with announcements and remote rerouting.

Contractors engaged in road maintenance are to prepare personnel, materials, equipment, and machinery ready to address and resolve issues ensuring traffic safety in the event of flash floods, landslides, bridge washouts, or road collapses. They will coordinate with local authorities and relevant units in traffic management throughout the exam period.
