In the afternoon of June 7th, under the chairmanship of Assistant to the Foreign Minister and Head of the MOFA’s Office Duong Chi Dung, chiefs of Vietnamese diplomatic representative offices abroad in term of 2016 – 2019, including 22 ambassadors and consuls general who have just been nominated paid a courtesy visit to Provincial Party Standing Committee in order to get information about socio-economic status and diplomatic affairs of the province in the past time. Receiving and working with the Delegation were Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Eban Y Phu, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Tuan Ha, representatives of the Provincial Party Committee, departments and sectors.

At the meeting, Mr. Eban Y Phu introduced overall potentials and projects calling for investment in fields of agriculture, breeding, process industry, etc. to the MOFA’s Delegation. In addition, the growth of socio-economy improved in the last few years: the gross product in period of 2011-2015 accounted for 8%; the economy in 2015 gained nearly VND 18.500 billion; the economic structure transfered towards reducing proportion of agriculture and forestry as well as increasing proportion of industry and services.
Total budget revenue in 2015 achieved over VND 17,200 billion; average income per capita in 2015 was estimated to gain VND 32,7 million/person/year. Currently, province goods have been exported to 60 nations and territories around the world, even to large markets such as USA, England, Japan.
The investment has made great strides with 15 projects in the coffee production being invested. However, besides the potential and advantages, Dak Lak province has also met some difficulties such as: the economic development scale is disproportionate to market potentials; the agricultural development is unstable; the investment attraction as well as Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) into areas and industrial parks is still limited ...

Regarding to diplomatic activities, Dak Lak province has always strengthened external economic relations with Laos, Cambodia and other countries. The mobilization and investment attraction has been improved in content and methods. Dak Lak province has also approached to sponsors actively through number of projects and diversified fields. Up to now, the province has carried out 50 official donated projects with the capital of VND 6,712 billion. The ODA projects have contributed to improve the socio-economic infrastructure, hunger elimination and poverty reduction, etc.

Most proposals of Dak Lak’s representatives have focused on suggesting the Delegation call for sponsors, investors to construct irrigation works; support coffee products to access to markets that have high-technology; protect trademark of Buon Ma Thuot coffee over the world; advertise Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival; create more favourable conditions for the province to implement economic diplomacy and introduce the Dak Lak’s potentials to the world.
Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Duong Chi Dung expressed his enjoyment of considerable development in Dak Lak in recent years. He also assured that the Delegation will be a bridge to introduce and advertise image of the Dak Lak’s potentials to the world. For the suggestion to support training foreign affairs staffs, the Delegation will submit the MOFA to cooperate with Dak Lak to train negotiation skill, support Dak Lak to choose suitable foreign partners, educate knowledge of interpretation in foreign countries to adjust international integration. On the other hand, Dak Lak province should also coordinate with MOFA to promote positive diplomatic direction and business community connection between the province and foreign partners.
