Review of the progress in organizing activities commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Buon Ma Thuot victory, the liberation of Dak Lak Province, and the Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival. (10/12/2024, 11:08)

On December 4, the Organizing Committee for the activities commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Buon Ma Thuot victory and the liberation of Dak Lak Province (March 10, 1975 - March 10, 2025) and the 9th Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival in 2025 (hereinafter referred to as the 50th anniversary activities and the Festival) convened a meeting to review the implementation progress of these activities.

The meeting was co-chaired by Pham Ngoc Nghi - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, and Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Steering Committee for the 50th anniversary activities and the Festival and Nguyen Tuan Ha - Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Organizing Committee for the 50th anniversary activities and the Festival.

The meeting was attended by H’Yim K’doh, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, members of the Steering Committee and the Organizing Committee, as well as media units and enterprises participating in the 50th anniversary activities and the Festival.

The activities commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Buon Ma Thuot victory and the liberation of Dak Lak Province will take place in March 2025, featuring key components such as: a ceremony of offering incense and flowers at the Provincial Martyrs' Cemetery and the National Special Monument Buon Ma Thuot Prison; a commemorative meeting, parade, and march; a scientific seminar titled “50 Years of the Buon Ma Thuot Victory – Values and Historical Lessons”; a photo exhibition titled “Dak Lak – 50 Years of Construction and Development”; and various cultural and artistic events in celebration.

Nguyen Tuan Ha, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and Head of the Organizing Committee for the 50th anniversary activities and the Festival, spoke during the meeting.

The 9th Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival will occur from March 9, 2025, to March 13, 2025, including major activities such as the opening and closing ceremonies of the Festival; a specialized coffee exhibition and OCOP product fair; a coffee brewing competition and coffee experience activities; a scientific seminar on coffee industry development; an international trade conference aimed at connecting and enhancing Vietnamese coffee; as well as cultural performances and exchanges.

To date, preparations for the 50th anniversary activities and the Festival are progressing in accordance with the established timeline. Promotional efforts have been intensified, with media campaigns deployed across public information channels and social media to promote the events. Relevant authorities are developing effective coordination plans to ensure security and order throughout the duration of the activities.

Huynh Chien Thang, Deputy Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department, contributed to the discussion during the meeting.

Regarding the 50th anniversary activities, participants focused on preparations for the commemorative meeting, parade, and march. To ensure adherence to the proposed timeline, the organizing committee plans to finalize the selection process for personnel and establish the parade and march units, with rehearsals set to commence on December 15, 2024. The parade and march are anticipated to feature 50 units from various armed forces, departments, branches, organizations, and local units. Concerning the scientific seminar on “50 Years of the Buon Ma Thuot Victory – Values and Historical Lessons,” the Ministry of Defense is currently collaborating with the Dak Lak Provincial Party Committee to prepare for the event, which is expected to occur in early March 2025.

Colonel Tran Quang Hieu, Deputy Director of the Provincial Police, also shared insights during the meeting.

For the 9th Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival, a highlight will be the anticipated street festival featuring innovative programming and spectacular events, including participation from the Military Region 5 Band and cavalry forces from the Ministry of Public Security. The festival will also encompass numerous activities involving international media organizations, such as a Rock Band Festival; an international off-road car racing competition titled “Challenge Through the Jungle – Buon Don 2025”; and a light festival utilizing advanced lighting technology intertwined with artistic performances, which is expected to attract enthusiastic audience participation and promote positive energy among the youth.

Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Phạm Ngọc Nghị delivered a speech at the meeting.

In his remarks at the meeting, Comrade Phạm Ngọc Nghị emphasized that the activities commemorating the Buôn Ma Thuột Victory, the liberation of Đắk Lắk Province, and the 9th Buôn Ma Thuột Coffee Festival in 2025 are among the key political tasks of the province in 2025. Therefore, all levels, sectors, and localities need to focus on reviewing and clearly defining responsibilities in order to seriously and effectively implement the assigned tasks.

Comrade Phạm Ngọc Nghị noted that the time remaining for these activities is limited; thus, the departments, sectors, and relevant units must urgently complete the tasks and content assigned to ensure the proposed timeline, particularly in regard to fundraising efforts. The subcommittees must promptly undertake the assigned responsibilities, concentrating on enhancing public awareness to create a widespread impact and attract interest from various strata of society, both within and outside the province, towards the commemorative activities and the festival. Should any obstacles or difficulties arise during implementation, it is crucial to report to the Provincial People's Committee for timely resolution and support.
