On the afternoon of February 17, Dak Lak Provincial Party Committee held a conference to review 10 years of implementation of the 8^th Central Committee's Resolution on the Strategy to protect the Fatherland in the new situation.

Delegates attending the conference include Mr. Nguyen Dinh Trung - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Standing members of the Provincial Party Committee; Member of the Provincial Party’s Executive Committee; Standing Provincial People's Council, Provincial People's Committee, Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, Provincial National Assembly Delegation; departments, divisions and units of the province; district, town, city and affiliated party committees.

In the past 10 years, all levels the Provincial Party Committee have thoroughly mastered and directed the implementation to achieve comprehensive results of the targets, tasks and solutions identified in Program No. 43-CTr/TU of the Provincial Party’s Executive Committee, programs and plans of agencies and localities to implement the Resolution of the 8^th Central Committee, term XI.

Political security, social order and safety in the area are maintained and international integration is expanded, creating favorable conditions for the province's socio-economic development. National defense is associated with the people's security, and the people's security posture is consolidated and strengthened. The potentials in the defensive area are continuously enhanced. Awareness and responsibilities of Party committees, authorities and mass organizations at all levels for the task of protecting the Fatherland and the overall quality and combat strength of the armed forces are increasingly improved, ensuring the fulfillment of duties in all situations; contribute to firmly defending the Fatherland in the new situation, creating favorable conditions for the successful completion of local socio-economic development objectives and targets.

Besides the achieved results, there are still some limitations and shortcomings such as: the leadership in implementing the Resolution of the 8^th Party Central Committee at some localities is not effective; the political system at the grassroots level is still limited; the province's economic growth is not commensurate with its potentials, and development lacks stability and sustainability; political security, social order and safety, and religious security at grassroots have complicated developments; people's lives are still difficult, especially in remote, isolated and ethnic minority areas.

Speaking at the conference, General To Lam - Politburo member, Minister of Public Security, highly appreciated the results that Dak Lak province has achieved in 10 years of implementing the 8^th Central Party Committee’s Resolution.

Regarding the direction and key tasks in the future, General Lam emphasized, it is necessary to unify the awareness on national defense in the new situation, creating a basis for drastic changes in implementation; consolidate national defense and people's security, creating a solid change for the defense of the Fatherland; protecting the Party and the socialist regime must always be the the central task of defending the Fatherland in the new situation; closely and effectively combine socio-economic development with national defense and security assurance; continue to preserve and promote the traditional cultural values of the nation, considering this as the driving force and foundation for the development and international integration of Dak Lak in particular, of the Central Highlands in general; paying special attention to ensuring border security, security of ethnic minority areas, cyber security; actively promote foreign affairs, international integration, people-to-people diplomacy, and border building of peace, friendship, stability, cooperation and development.

On this occasion, the Provincial Party’ Executive Committee awarded Certificates of Merit to 19 organizations and 27 individuals with outstanding achievements in the implementation of the Resolution of the 8^th Central Executive Committee on the Strategy for National Defense in the new situation.
