On January 22, a delegation from Attapeu Province, Laos, visited Dak Lak Province to extend traditional Lunar New Year greetings. The group was led by Mr. Bun Sot - Set Thi Lat, a member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, who is also the Chairman of the Laos - Vietnam Friendship Association.

The delegation was welcomed by Mr. Nguyen Tuan Ha, the Permanent Vice Chairman of the Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee, along with representatives from relevant departments and agencies.

During the meeting, a representative from the Provincial Department of Planning and Investment reported on the socio-economic development achievements in Dak Lak for the year 2024. Notably, the province reached a per capita GRDP of 73 million VND, with total social investment capital amounting to 36.990 trillion VND, an increase of 4.02% compared to 2023. Additionally, total export turnover reached 1.853 billion USD, reflecting a significant growth of 23.86% over the previous year.

In his remarks, Mr. Bun Sot - Set Thi Lat expressed delight at the impressive results achieved by Dak Lak Province and the ongoing cooperation between the two provinces. He expressed hope that both provincial governments would continue to exchange and sign a Memorandum of Understanding to enhance delegation exchanges and people-to-people interactions, contributing to socio-economic development and strengthening the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Laos, particularly between Dak Lak and Attapeu.

On the occasion of the New Year of the Snake 2025, he wished the leaders of the Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee and departmental leaders good health and happiness, and conveyed wishes for the everlasting growth and sustainable cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.

Mr. Nguyen Tuan Ha, the Permanent Vice Chairman of the Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee, noted that like many localities across the nation, Dak Lak faced numerous challenges in pursuing economic and social development. However, with the concerted efforts of the entire political system and the local population, the province has achieved positive changes, leading to an improved standard of living for its residents.

During the discussions, Mr.Nguyen Tuan Ha conveyed his satisfaction with the socio-economic progress made by Attapeu Province and expressed the desire for both sides to finalize their cooperation agreement in celebration of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, further enhancing the traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.

 

The Permanent Vice Chairman extended heartfelt thanks and best wishes to Mr. Bun Sot - Set Thi Lat and all members of the visiting delegation for their valuable time in visiting and celebrating Tet in Dak Lak. He also cordially invited the leadership of Attapeu Province to attend the 9th Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival in 2025.
