On the morning of December 19, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Dak Lak Province organized a conference to review the work plan for 2024 and to implement tasks for 2025.
Attending the conference were Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Truong Cong Thai; Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Hoai Duong, along with representatives from various departments, sectors, localities, and relevant units.

Despite facing numerous difficulties and challenges in 2024, such as extreme weather conditions, natural disasters, diseases affecting crops and livestock, and complex issues related to deforestation and illegal encroachment on forest land, the agriculture and rural development sector of the province has achieved significant accomplishments. The overall targets of the sector have been met and exceeded; agriculture, forestry, and fisheries continue to play a crucial role in the economic structure of the province. The prices of key agricultural products have risen, contributing to the stabilization of livelihoods for the people and the socio-economic development of the entire province.

Accordingly, compared to 2023, the total value of agricultural, forestry, and fishery products in the area (at 2010 constant prices) is estimated to reach over 23.520 trillion VND (achieving 100.9% of the plan), an increase of 4.83% and 1.4 times higher than the national average; irrigation systems ensuring proactive watering are estimated to reach 84.45%, meeting the 2024 plan and increasing by 0.57% compared to 2023; the percentage of rural residents using hygienic water reached 97.15% (exceeding the 2024 plan by 0.15%, an increase of 0.65% compared to 2023); the forest cover rate (including rubber trees) is estimated to reach 38.8%, exceeding the 2024 plan by 0.76%; the total area of cultivated crops in 2024 is estimated to reach 697,694 hectares, achieving 106.31% of the plan, an increase of 6,280 hectares compared to 2023. Currently, the province has 230 OCOP products, an increase of 81 products compared to 2023 and exceeding the target by 30 products set for the end of 2025.

The restructuring tasks of the sector have been implemented comprehensively across all fields, with investments in the application of science and technology in production, particularly high technology, and a focus on digital transformation; the irrigation system continues to be invested in and developed towards multi-objective goals; the management, protection, and development of forests have received attention from all levels of government, and food safety management has continued to be prioritized.
Key agricultural products of the province, such as coffee, pepper, and durian, have experienced good harvests and favorable prices, yielding significant profits for farmers. This has created a strong impetus for the restructuring of agriculture, particularly in developing value chain linkages, certified production, high-tech applications, clean agriculture, organic agriculture, multi-value agriculture, and circular agriculture in practice.
For 2025, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has set targets such as: the total value of agricultural, forestry, and fishery products in the area reaching 24.703 trillion VND; irrigation systems ensuring proactive watering for over 85% of cultivated areas requiring irrigation; the percentage of rural residents using hygienic water reaching 97.5%; the percentage of communes meeting new rural standards reaching 65.1%; and the forest cover rate (including rubber trees) reaching 40%.

In his remarks at the conference, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Truong Cong Thai acknowledged and highly appreciated the efforts and outstanding achievements of the entire agriculture and rural development sector in 2024. He emphasized that in the coming time, the agriculture sector needs to continue to fully grasp the mindset of "agricultural economy"; focus on implementing synchronously the key tasks of restructuring the agricultural sector, aiming for multi-value agriculture, clean, organic, responsible, and circular agriculture; enhance the capacity to build and implement legal documents and resolutions of the Party, the Provincial People's Council, the Provincial People's Committee, and the action programs/plans of the sector; continue to promote the restructuring of the sector, improving productivity, quality of agricultural products, and production and business efficiency.
Furthermore, to ensure effective and sustainable development in the agriculture sector, it is necessary to implement well and synchronously the tasks of innovating and developing various forms of production and business organization in agriculture; enhance the effectiveness of food safety quality management, processing, and trade of agricultural, forestry, and fishery products; strengthen research, application of science and technology, and agricultural extension work, as well as the development of plant and animal breeds, aquaculture, and forestry; develop irrigation infrastructure, clean water, and rural environmental conditions; enhance disaster prevention and mitigation capabilities; implement the new rural construction program linked with the restructuring of the agricultural sector; and increase the attraction and effective use of investment capital, proactively and actively integrate internationally.
