On the afternoon of January 13th, Comrade Nguyen Tuan Ha – Standing Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Dak Lak Province, chaired the regular press conference for December 2024.

During the meeting, the leaders of the Office of the People's Committee provided a summary of the results of implementing socio-economic development tasks, as well as ensuring national defense and security for the year 2024; the situation regarding the implementation of programs, projects, resolutions, and conclusions from the central government within the province.

Accordingly, in 2024, the socio-economic situation in the province continued to develop. Twelve out of sixteen major indicators achieved or surpassed the planned targets, with three notable indicators exceeding the set plans: Average income per capita - GRDP (reaching 72.8 million VND/person); Total retail sales of goods and service revenue (reaching 105.2% of the plan); Export turnover (reaching 103.1% of the plan). Although the growth rate did not meet expectations and the growth scenario, the scale of the economy continued to expand, with the total product value in the area at current prices reaching 141.326 trillion VND, an increase of 16.7% compared to 2023, equating to 105.72% of the plan and 1.63 times higher than in 2020 (ranked first in the Central Highlands).

In the field of culture and society, external activities continued to receive attention and achieved positive results, notably through activities commemorating the 120th anniversary of the province's establishment, which contributed to enhancing the promotion of the locality’s image, potential, and strengths, thereby attracting tourists to the province. Social welfare policies, assistance for those with meritorious service, poverty reduction initiatives, and programs to eliminate temporary and dilapidated housing were implemented in a comprehensive, timely, and effective manner, particularly completing and handing over over 1,500 houses to support poor households, those facing housing difficulties, policy families, and ethnic minority groups in the province. Diseases affecting humans, crops, and livestock were generally controlled and remained stable. National defense was strengthened; political security and social order remained intact.

Regarding the implementation of programs, projects, resolutions, and conclusions from the central government and the province, the People's Committee has focused on directing the acceleration of task implementation, including: Planning for Dak Lak Province for the period 2021-2030, with a vision extending to 2050; Special policies according to Resolution No. 72/2022/QH15 of the National Assembly regarding the pilot of certain special mechanisms and policies for the development of Buon Ma Thuot City; The socio-economic development project associated with ensuring national security and defense in the Central Highlands; National target programs aiming to achieve over 90% of the funding plan for 2024; Accelerating the progress of the Khanh Hoa - Buon Ma Thuot Expressway project; Implementing basic construction investments...
At the press conference, a representative of the People's Committee of Krông Bông District responded to VTV8, the Vietnam Television channel, regarding the article "Đắk Lắk: Schools at Risk of Landslides." To mitigate potential risks, the People's Committee of Krông Bông has collaborated with a construction consulting unit to conduct thorough inspections and surveys to devise a safety management plan. Furthermore, funding has been allocated for the medium-term period of 2025-2030 to execute the construction of reinforced concrete retaining walls. The school has informed parents of the remedial measures to ensure their peace of mind in sending their children to school.

In response to the article "Parents Concerned About the Expense of Buying Tet Calendars for Students" published by the Education and Development Newspaper, the Department of Education and Training and the Provincial Youth Union will continue to gather information from schools and collaborate with relevant units to survey and reassess the annual purchase of Tet calendars by students in the province.
A representative from the People's Committee of Buon Ma Thuot City responded to the online Youth Newspaper regarding the article "Illegal Explosion of Pickleball Courts Built on Agricultural Land." After inspection, the authorities issued an administrative penalty decision against illegally constructed projects and required local wards to encourage residents to dismantle these structures while managing the construction of sports facilities.
A representative from the Department of Education and Training addressed the electronic newspaper VOV concerning the article "Principal with Multiple Violations in Dak Lak Again Accused of Wrongdoing." Currently, the Department of Education and Training is in the process of verifying the reported information and recommendations regarding the principal’s repeated violations and will provide a conclusion on the handling of the matter to the press in the near future.
Speaking at the press conference, Mr. Nguyen Tuan Ha - Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee suggested that relevant agencies continue to promptly record and respond to information reported by press agencies; thereby, timely providing information to the public and clarifying issues of public concern. The Department of Information and Communications should continue to effectively facilitate information exchange with press agencies to further enhance the quality and effectiveness of information and press work in the future.
