The survey and information collection on the socio-economic situation (SE-S) of the 53 ethnic minority (EM) groups in 2024 started from July 1 to August 15 nationwide, aimed at building and planning SE-S development policies for EM regions for the 2026-2030 period. In Dak Lak province, preparations have been completed, ready to deploy and perform this task to the best of their ability.
On the morning of July 1, in Cu Kuin district, Dak Lak province, the General Statistics Office coordinated with the Ethnic Affairs Committee to organize the Launching Ceremony of the survey and information collection on the socio-economic situation of the 53 ethnic minority groups in 2024.

Attendees at the ceremony included Mr. Nguyen Trung Tien, Deputy Director General of the General Statistics Office; Mr. Y Vinh Tor - Deputy Minister, Deputy Head of the Ethnic Affairs Committee; Mr. Nguyen Thien Van - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Dak Lak province; leaders of departments and sectors; People's Committees of Cu Kuin district and communes.
The survey and information collection on the socio-economic situation (SE-S) of the 53 ethnic minority groups in 2024 started from July 1 to August 15 nationwide.
This survey is of great significance, aiming to gather information on population, housing, marriage, health, education, living conditions, etc., to compile statistics indicators under the National Statistical Indicator System and the Ethnic Affairs Statistical Indicator System to serve the development and planning of socio-economic policies for EM regions for the 2026-2030 period; as well as updating the statistical information system and data on ethnic minorities in Vietnam.

According to the General Statistics Office, the survey utilizes direct information collection methods regarding demographics, education, migration, marriage, health insurance usage, employment, birth history, contraceptive use among females aged 10-49, mortality statistics, housing and living conditions, land for residential and agricultural purposes, predominant livestock types, and household access to public services.
Mr. Y Vinh Tor - Deputy Minister, Deputy Head of the Ethnic Affairs Committee, emphasized during his speech at the ceremony that this 3rd survey is crucial for implementing ethnic policies by 2025.
To effectively, comprehensively, and scientifically carry out the survey and information collection task, Mr. Y Vinh Tor requested local Party committees and authorities to pay attention, coordinate, ensure transparency, and create favorable conditions for specialized agencies to organize the survey and collect information at village, hamlet, and neighborhood levels; especially enhancing advocacy and active participation in survey support in these areas.

He requested the Dak Lak Provincial Statistics Office to lead and coordinate with the Ethnic Affairs Committee, departments, and local authorities to implement the survey according to the schedule; proactively develop plans for receiving, managing, exploiting, and utilizing survey results to build plans; and actively promote information dissemination before, during, and after the survey.
Together with 54 provinces and cities nationwide, Dak Lak province is honored to be one of four provinces selected to organize the provincial-level launch ceremony this time.
Dak Lak is a province with many ethnic groups living together, each with its own cultural beauties. The population of Dak Lak includes 49 ethnic groups. Among them, the Kinh people account for over 70%; ethnic minorities such as E De, M'nong, Thai, Tay, Nung... account for nearly 30% of the province's population.

According to the sample selection results, Dak Lak province has 606 survey areas, 130 communes are surveyed according to Decision No. 861/QD-TTg dated June 4, 2021 of the Prime Minister Approving the List of communes in areas III, II, I in the region of ethnic minorities and mountainous areas for the 2021 - 2025 period, 93 supervisors, 130 team leaders, and 606 investigators.
The core force in supervising statistics work is public officials of the Statistics sector, with the coordination of the Ethnic Affairs Committee and Ethnic Affairs Offices. Investigators are selected based on their responsibility, proficiency in using smart devices, and good interview skills. Up to now, the survey has received strong participation from the entire political system, from central to local levels and the consensus of the majority of people, high determination of levels, especially investigators - those directly involved in gathering information from households.

However, some areas are still facing many difficulties, such as geographical distances, transportation in rural areas, scattered population distribution, opportunities to access survey subjects, especially now during the agricultural production season, where people often stay on their fields, and Internet connectivity issues in some areas make GPS positioning impractical... The Statistics Office, Ethnic Affairs Committee, departments, committees, and authorities at provincial, district, town, city, and commune levels are urgently requested to guide and unify the professional skills for investigators to implement the unified survey; monitor the implementation progress and quality of collected information. Provide propaganda products for local media agencies to effectively disseminate survey purposes and significance within the province.
The district Statistics Office conducted specific assignments and clearly assigned content tasks to each supervisor and team leader; promptly grasped directives from the General Statistics Office and the Ethnic Affairs Committee during the survey process. Supervisors regularly monitor local areas, supervise the activities of investigators in information collection stages, support operations, and answer questions to help investigators successfully complete tasks, contributing to the overall success of the survey.
It is especially necessary to thoroughly investigate and interview each household, to guide representatives of commune People's Committees to provide information on the Electronic Information Page of the Survey of 53 Ethnic Minorities in 2024. Timely report to the provincial People's Committee on issues beyond jurisdiction.

District, town, city People's Committees, based on their functions, tasks, and delegated powers, closely coordinate with the Statistics Department to issue documents to guide relevant units to effectively conduct the survey; create favorable conditions for investigators to conduct interviews and collect household information, commune questionnaires in full, timely, ensuring sufficient quantity and quality of information; coordinate propaganda on the purpose and significance of the survey among local people's authorities - Mr. Nguyen Thien Van suggested.
