To implement Tourism Program “Heritage Journey” (12/10/2016, 16:11)

On October 6, Dak Lak Provincial People’s Committee (PPC) held a meeting under the chair of Vice Chairman Nguyen Tuan Ha to discuss the plan for preparations and implementation of the Tourism Program “Heritage Journey” at the 6th Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival in combination with Central Highland’s Gong Culture Festival in 2017.

Overview of the meeting

The tourism Program “Heritage Journey” includes tour designing in connection with visiting and learning about coffee growing, producing and coffee blending in Dak Lak; learning about gong cultural value in villages of the Central Highlands; organizing compositions, artwork contests, etc. Aiming to attract more visitors to participate in coffee and gongs experiencing programs at the Festival, the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has implemented to travel agencies in the province to urgently build up new tours in relation to coffee and gong culture which will be announced in November 2016. Currently, units are positively making surveys, building up tours which have a connection with tours in other provinces. However, these tours have not still deeply exploited the process of coffee production and products related to coffee as well as activities in relation to gongs at Festivals. Tours have not attracted visitors and created typical features of tourism in Dak Lak.

Representative of enterprises speaks at the meeting

At the meeting, participants said that it is important to have tourism products with high quality which will create differences and be an occasion for tourists to live, experience, learn about and discover coffee growing, caring, processing. Coffee production and business activities will gradually become a unique tourism product and this will create conditions for visitors to study and discover historical, cultural value related to coffee, learn about gong culture in villages and hamlets. In addition, it should be focused on propaganda activities and promotion of the Program “Heritage Journey” in particular, the 6th Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival and Central Highland’s Gong Culture Festival in 2017 in general promptly, accurately and efficiently. If travel agencies have unique tours, they should make video clips to submit to Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism for consideration and then these tours will be submitted to the Dak Lak PPC for approval to update, introduce and spread on mass media of the province. The contents of tours including coffee production and process should be fully built to attract tourists and gain confidence in the quality of products.

Vice Chairman Nguyen Tuan Ha concludes the meeting

Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman Nguyen Tuan Ha emphasized that the 6th Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival in combination with Central Highland’s Gong Culture Festival in 2017 would be a good chance for Dak Lak to introduce, promote images and potentials of tourism development as well as cultural identity of the province. Therefore, relevant units need to urgently accomplish the programs as planned.  The provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism will be responsible for directing the Tourism Promotion Center in coordination with relevant units, enterprises to finish building up tourism products with high quality before October 20, 2016; to take priority for making plans to deploy contents of coffee sector development in tourism development scheme of Dak Lak in the period of 2016-2020. The provincial Department of Information and Communications will coordinate with press agencies to strengthen the dissemination and promotion of Festival’s activities and Programs with the aim of attracting more visitors. Travel agencies need to study, build up and create more new tourism programs and submit list of tours to Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism before October 10, 2016 for consideration before being announced at the end of November, 2016. The travel agencies should build up close connection, support and cooperate for their development and ensure that the Program “Heritage Journey” will be successfully organized.
