Comrade Nguyen Dinh Trung - Central Party Committee Member, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, lit incense.

At the end of 1974, the military situation in the south underwent significant changes, with revolutionary forces in the south achieving numerous victories; consequently, the strength and authority of the puppet army and government weakened considerably. In this context, the Politburo convened and assessed the situation, recognizing new strategic opportunities, which led to the decision to liberate the south within the years 1975-1976; the Highlands were designated as the main offensive direction, with Buon Ma Thuot as the target of the Central Highlands Campaign in 1975. To prepare for the battle to liberate Buon Ma Thuot city, the Central Military Commission and the Military Command took direct command, reinforcing manpower and resources. At precisely 2:03 AM on March 10, 1975, a fierce assault by our troops and people was launched against key enemy positions in Buon Ma Thuot, such as Hoa Binh Airport, Mai Hac De Depot, the Command Headquarters of the 23rd Division of the puppet army, and Buon Ma Thuot Airport. On March 10, 1975, we successfully captured many critical targets in the city, and by March 11, 1975, all enemy forces in the city were annihilated, thus establishing complete control over these positions.

Comrade Huynh Thi Chien Hoa - Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Council, and Comrade Pham Ngoc Nghi - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, lit incense.

After suffering a defeat in a short period, the enemy deployed the 23rd Division in a frantic counterattack to regain Buon Ma Thuot but was repelled by our troops and people. Subsequently, our forces and citizens united to root out the enemy remnants throughout the province, forcing them to retreat from the Central Highlands. By March 24, 1975, Dak Lak Province was completely liberated.

Delegates commemorated the revolutionary fighters who sacrificed their lives at the Buon Ma Thuot Prison.

The Central Highlands Offensive, culminating in the Victory of Buon Ma Thuot, struck a decisive blow against the enemy, causing them to become confused and fearful, leading to their gradual disintegration. This victory created a significant historical turning point, accelerating the process of the General Offensive and Uprising in the Spring of 1975, culminating in the historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign, which completely liberated the South and unified the nation.

At the ceremony, delegates respectfully offered flowers and incense to express their profound gratitude and remembrance for the communist soldiers, former political prisoners at the Buon Ma Thuot Prison, and the leadership, officials, soldiers, and people of various ethnic groups in Dak Lak who selflessly endured hardships and sacrifices to build and develop the province of Dak Lak.
