On the morning of September 29th, in Buon Ma Thuot City, the Viettel Enterprise Solutions Corporation (Viettel Solutions) organized a seminar on building a regional data center.

The seminar in progress.

The event was attended by Mr. Nguyen Tuan Ha, Deputy Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee of Dak Lak Province, along with representatives of provincial departments, agencies, and localities. Also present were Mr. Nguyen Manh Ho, General Director of Viettel Solutions, and the Directors of Viettel in the Central Highlands region and Thai Binh Province.

During the opening speech of the seminar, Nguyen Manh Ho, General Director of Viettel Solutions, emphasized the significance of data centers or centralized information technology infrastructure. These centers serve as hubs for computing and data storage, essential for supporting applications and user needs, and they play a crucial role in a country's economic and technological development. With the current trend of national digital transformation, the establishment of national and regional data centers has become a top priority for countries. These centers not only meet the needs for computation and data storage but also ensure data security and sovereignty.

Cloud computing, a pillar of the digital transformation process

Cloud computing, a pillar of the digital transformation process, was also discussed during the seminar. Viettel, with its mission of pioneering the creation of a digital society, has been actively involved in building a digital government, digital economy, and digital society, collaborating closely with the government and local authorities in this journey. Viettel has made significant investments and contributions to the development of Vietnam's data center infrastructure, ensuring information security and promoting national digital transformation.

Viettel representatives share typical and efficiently deployed applications in some localities.

During the seminar, Viettel experts shared insights into various topics related to data centers, including cloud computing, the role of data centers in digital transformation, modernizing traditional IT infrastructure, cloud computing security, green data center trends, and an overview of data center solutions, standards, and implementation experiences.

These data centers or IT infrastructure hubs are designed with high standards in terms of performance, reliability, and security. Additionally, they are equipped with advanced technologies such as virtualization, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence to optimize data management and utilization. Simultaneously, they provide a foundation for critical projects such as artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things (IoT), Big Data, and advanced technology applications.

Around the world, countries are strongly emphasizing the construction and development of national data centers to ensure information security, enhance the provision of public services, and promote sustainable development.

Examples in Asia include South Korea, Japan, and Singapore, which have excelled in building national and international data centers to boost economic and technological development.

Viettel currently owns Vietnam's largest data center infrastructure, with 13 data centers covering over 9,000 racks across 60,000 square meters of floor space. Viettel plans to invest an additional VND 10 trillion by 2025 to expand its capacity to 17,000 racks. By 2030, Viettel aims to raise its investment to VND 40 trillion with a scale of 34,000 racks. All of Viettel's data center infrastructure complies with ANSI/TIA-942-B:2017 Rated-3 Constructed Facilities - a standard used to assess all aspects of physical data center, including location, architecture, security, fire safety, electrical, mechanical, and telecommunications.

Viettel has extensive high-speed broadband connectivity with the largest optical fiber backbone in Indochina, five international submarine cable routes with the highest capacity in Vietnam, and over 500,000 kilometers of optical fiber covering all 63 provinces and cities.

Viettel possesses internationally recognized cybersecurity capabilities, holding ISO certifications and being the only organization in Vietnam to achieve the AICPA SOC1, 2, 3 certifications from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). Furthermore, Viettel is a leading company in implementing Level 4 information security solutions.

Viettel also has a team of over 500 cloud computing engineers and nearly 1,000 IT, network administration, and information security professionals in Vietnam. Viettel Cloud, built and owned directly by Viettel's engineers, applies modern technologies, including open-source solutions like OpenStack, Kubernetes, Ceph, Prometheus, and Grafana, with stable and up-to-date deployment versions, supporting the community and allowing technology organizations to use the services flexibly.

The Viettel Cloud platform, developed and controlled directly by Viettel's team of engineers, employs modern technologies including open-source solutions such as OpenStack, Kubernetes, Ceph, Prometheus, and Grafana, with stable and up-to-date deployment versions. This platform provides flexible operational capabilities that support both the community and technology organizations.
