Dak Lak Province Commemorates Hung Kings' Memorial Day at Lac Giao Historical Monument (24/04/2024, 14:41)

On the morning of April 18th, coinciding with the 10th day of the 3rd lunar month, alongside other localities nationwide, at the Lac Giao National Historical and Cultural Monument, Buon Ma Thuot City, the government and people of Dak Lak Province solemnly observed the Hung Kings' Memorial Day, paying tribute to the nation's roots and honoring the Hung Kings for their contributions to the nation's establishment.

Attending the ceremony were: Mr. Pham Minh Tan - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Ms. Huynh Thi Chien Hoa - Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Council; Ms. H’Yim Kdoh - Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee; leaders of departments, sectors, and localities, along with a large number of citizens.

The ceremony took place in a dignified atmosphere with gong performances, drumbeating, ritual ceremonies, incense offerings, offerings from provincial leaders and people; a ceremony to report achievements, reading of historical records recounting the heroic history of the Hung Kings' nation-building era, the struggle for national independence and unity, and the construction of socialism today.

Reading the commemorative speech at the ceremony, Ms. H’Yim Kdoh - Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized that in the solemn and reverent atmosphere towards the origin, in our hearts, we always remember the contributions of our ancestors who bravely and courageously explored the land, established the Van Lang nation - the first independent country of the Vietnamese people, laying the foundation for the strong and sustainable development of the nation.

The achievements obtained in 2023 are the result of the tireless efforts and determination of the entire political system, of the economic components in the province, and the support and attention of the Government, Central Ministries, and sectors, especially the unity and unanimity of all 49 ethnic groups in the province. Before the ancestors' altar, the government and people of Dak Lak Province respectfully express their gratitude to the Hung Kings. The people of Dak Lak ethnic groups pledge to uphold the tradition of great unity, continue to promote industrialization and modernization, build Dak Lak Province richer, more civilized, modern, worthy of being the descendants of Lac Hong - Mrs. H'Yim Kdoh stated.

The Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism stated that the new point in this year's Hung Kings' Memorial Day is the activity of making Chung cakes, breaking Banh Day, which is carried out by artisans in Buon Ma Thuot City at Lac Giao Monument to offer to the Hung Kings.

 

In the solemn and sacred atmosphere, the people of Dak Lak offer incense to commemorate the Hung Kings, looking back at their roots.

Participating in this activity, Ms. Luan Thi Lien, Tu An Ward, Buon Ma Thuot City, shared emotionally, "I participated in making Chung cakes to offer to the Hung Kings. This time, I feel that the Hung Kings' Memorial Day is very respectful and grand, and everyone participates enthusiastically. On this occasion, we participated in demonstrating the making of cakes, contributing to the solemn and meaningful ceremony. We pray that the Hung Kings will bless our Vietnamese people with peace, happiness, and prosperity."

Mr. Nguyen Van Bay, Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee for Cultural Activities at the Lac Giao National Historical and Cultural Monument, said that every year, the Dak Lak People's Committee selects Lac Giao Monument as the venue for the Hung Kings' Memorial Day ceremony. This is an opportunity for the people of ethnic groups in the province to turn towards their roots, express their deep reverence, and remember the contributions of the Hung Kings, thereby contributing to strengthening and developing the great unity bloc of ethnic groups in the province.

The worship of Hung Kings has been recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage Representative of Humanity on December 6, 2012. To this day, the strength of the worship of Hung Kings is being promoted in the present and the future. It is the strength of the roots, gathering the unity of generations of Vietnamese people living in every corner of the country, including our overseas compatriots participating in the construction and defense of the homeland.
