On June 17, the Commission for Cultural and Social Affairs of the Provincial People’s Council supervised the building of schools meeting national standards in the period of 2016-2020 in Buon Don district. Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Council Nguyen Thanh Hiep and other representatives from departments and units took part in the supervision.

Overview of the supervision at the district People’s Committee
To implement the building of schools meeting national standards, as at the beginning of the 2016-2020 period, the district People’s Committee set out the targets and assigned them to other units annually. Accordingly, the schools in the district registered their own plans of building schools meeting national standards with a focus on training managerial staff and teachers based on set standards along with the improvement of infrastructure and teaching equipment while improving the education quality.
As a result, the scale of the school network has been expanded. All communes have preschools; the system of public preschool, primary and secondary schools has been developed. School facilities have gradually met the learning needs of local children. Up to February 2020, the district has 16 out of 36 schools recognized as schools meeting national standards (taking to 44.4%), an increase of 6 schools compared to 2016 and surpassing one school against the plan. Specifically, four preschool schools have reached national standards, nine elementary schools have met national standards, and three secondary schools have met these standards...
At the meeting, the inspection delegation also mentioned some shortcomings and limitations during building schools to meet national standards in the locality such as: the investment in the building in each period are still slow and passive in funding; there are no schools meeting the national standard at level 2; some schools have met the national standards but still lack facilities such as the drying yard areas and functional rooms; most of the schools have been built according to the old standards so they did not meet the requirements of the current documents such as Circulars No. 17, 18 and 19 providing for education quality accreditation and recognition of schools meeting national standards ...In addition, the delegation also asked the locality to clarify some content about the number of standardized and above-standard managerial staff and teachers; the mobilization of investment resources for education in recent years; difficulties in maintaining standard results and raising standards in a later stage...

Based on the approved roadmap, Buon Don district need to select schools in order of priority to be included in the plan to build schools meeting national standards annually while adjusting, supplementing and completing the school network.
At the same time, she suggested coordinating with relevant agencies, committees and communes to plan and use land to ensure the conditions and area for building schools meeting national standards as prescribed; actively implementing socialization and mobilization of all resources and making use of capital sources to invest in infrastructure and equipment for schools, thereby improving the quality of education in localities... For the district’s recommendations and proposals, the delegation will synthesize and report to the competent authorities and agencies for settlement, said she.
