On the morning of August 25, Mr. Tran Thanh Man - Secretary of the Party Central Committee, President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee (VFFCC) had a meeting with the Standing Committee of Dak Lak Provincial Party Committee and Dak Lak provincial Vietnamese Fatherland Front Committee.

Overview of the meeting

Attending the meeting, there were the provincial leaders of Mr. Bui Van Cuong - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Mr. Pham Ngoc Nghi - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee; H'Kim Hoa Bya - Member of Provincial Standing Committee, Chairman of the Dak Lak Provincial Vietnamese Fatherland Front Committee.

At the meeting, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Bui Van Cuong briefly reported on the provincial situation of natural, socio-economic characteristics. Accordingly, with the land potential, Dak Lak is favourable to develop industrial crops, besides the potential for renewable energy development including wind power and solar power. However, Dak Lak’s economic development situation has still faced many difficulties due to limited transport infrastructure. The rate of poor and near-poor households of Dak Lak has remained high (over 22%), mainly of ethnic minority groups in five poor districts.

Reporting on the damage caused by the last flood in the province, Provincial Secretary Bui Van Cuong said that the flood most severely affected Ea Sup district, damaged 2,439 houses and many traffic and irrigation works, flooded 07 schools, put losses up to nearly 4,000 heads of cattle and poultry, etc. with the total damage of over VND800 billion.

Also at the meeting, Mrs. H 'Kim Hoa Bya - Member of the Provincial Standing Committee, Chairman of the Dak Lak Provincial Vietnamese Fatherland Front Committee reported to the VFFCC on the preparation of the Congress of Vietnamese Fatherland Front at all levels in the province.

Speaking at the meeting, Secretary of the Party Central Committee Tran Thanh Man - Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee highly appreciated the efforts of Dak Lak province in socio-economic development over the past time, at the same time shared difficulties in the socio-economic development of the province. He said that overcoming the limitation of transport infrastructure should play a very important role for the development of socio-economic, trade and tourism of Dak Lak province. In addition, Dak Lak’s attention should be paid to improve the quality of human resources; promote the agricultural restructuring towards sustainable poverty reduction, especially among ethnic minority groups.

On this occasion, Mr. Tran Thanh Man - Secretary of the Party Central Committee and President of the VFFCC presented an amount of VND800 million of the Central Relief Committee to support the construction of 20 “Great Unity” houses in the provincial area.
