On May 5, the People's Committee of Dak Lak Province held a meeting to review and evaluate the progress of implementing scientific, technological, innovative, and digital transformation tasks and projects in the province. Comrade Ho Thi Nguyen Thao, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee and Permanent Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee, chaired the meeting.
The meeting was also attended by Comrade Bui Thanh Toan, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee and Director of the Department of Science and Technology, along with representatives of relevant departments, agencies, and sectors.
Overview of the meeting
According to the report presented at the meeting, the province is currently managing and implementing 21 provincial-level scientific and technological tasks, transitioning to 2026, with a total transitional budget for the 2023-2026 period amounting to 37.01 billion VND. These tasks focus on key areas such as high-tech agriculture, processing, medicinal materials, and digital transformation.
The activities of transferring and applying science and technology in the province have gradually linked research with practical production, contributing to increased labor productivity, the development of key products, and improved income for residents. Research results have been transferred and applied in various fields, particularly in agriculture, processing, and medicinal materials, initially forming modern and sustainable production models.
Comrade Bui Thanh Toan, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee and Director of the Department of Science and Technology, delivered a speech at the meeting..
Regarding information technology and digital transformation projects, as well as investments in digital transformation equipment and infrastructure, the province is currently implementing 19 key projects for the 2021-2026 period. To date, many major projects have been completed and put into use.
For 2026, the public investment capital plan from the local budget has allocated 300 billion VND to continue implementing new projects. These initiatives include upgrading, supplementing, and expanding the Provincial Party Committee's video conferencing system to Party Committees at the commune and ward levels across the province; organizing and digitizing archival documents of Party agencies in the process of restructuring administrative apparatus at all levels; and building a digital data platform to serve the command and operational management of public security in Dak Lak Province.
Comrade Nguyen Tan Thanh, Deputy Director of the Department of Finance, speaking during discussions at the meeting.
Despite positive results, the implementation of scientific, technological, innovative, and digital transformation tasks still faces several limitations, such as: infrastructure and information systems lacking synchronization and stability; data being fragmented, unstandardized, and not forming an effective shared data system; mechanisms and policies for attracting and retaining personnel in science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation not being sufficiently appealing; a shortage of information technology and scientific personnel (especially at the grassroots level), with some positions being concurrently held; and limited investment funding, which does not meet the set requirements.
Comrade Cao Nhu Khanh, Deputy Chief of the Office of the Provincial People's Committee, speaking during discussions at the meeting.
At the meeting, participants focused on discussing and reviewing the tasks that have been and are being implemented, thereby proposing solutions to effectively carry out scientific, technological, innovative, and digital transformation tasks and projects in the province.
Speaking at the meeting, Comrade Ho Thi Nguyen Thao, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee and Permanent Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee, acknowledged the proactive efforts of the Department of Science and Technology and other departments, sectors, and localities in implementing scientific, technological, innovative, and digital transformation tasks in recent times.

She advised on investment and funding support for upgrading information technology infrastructure for scientific, technological, innovative, and digital transformation tasks and Project 06 to ensure the full and effective implementation of the planned contents, meeting the local digital transformation model.
