Vietnam Pepper Industry International Conference 2022 (16/11/2022, 19:33)

In 3 days (November 9-11), in Buon Ma Thuot, Vietnam Pepper Association organized the International Conference of Vietnam Pepper Industry 2022 - VIPO 2022.

In recent years, the world pepper industry has witnessed a strong increase in Vietnam's pepper planting area, especially in the period 2014 – 2017, with the price peaking at nearly VND 230,000/kg during this period. The pepper industry has contributed billions of dollars to the country's export turnover. However, when prices gradually decreased from 2018 to March 2020, along with pests and diseases, Vietnam's pepper sector was in crisis. The area of pepper has been significantly reduced, from nearly 150,000 hectares in 2018 to 131,000 hectares.

The Conference

The international conference of Vietnam's pepper industry in 2022 is an activity within the 2022 national trade promotion program directed by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, co-chaired by the Trade Promotion Agency and the Vietnam Pepper Association, with the coordination of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the People's Committee of Dak Lak province and the support and sponsorship of domestic and foreign businesses, units, and organizations.

At the conference, customers will have the opportunity to meet directly with producers, processors and exporters of Vietnamese pepper, and interact with world pepper traders. This is also an opportunity for customers to better understand Vietnam's pepper production and market, further exploiting the export potentials of Vietnam's pepper. In addition, the conference was also an occasion for delegates to update the requirements and consumer tastes of the global import markets through the lens of experts from the famous global pepper and spice industry, which will help in the supply chain of Vietnam's pepper industry to assess the situation and offer appropriate business solutions to meet the needs of the import markets and promote the sustainable development of Vietnam's pepper industry in the future.

Commendation of outstanding farmers, cooperatives and enterprises in the pepper industry

At the conference, the delegates were informed of key topics such as: assessment of factors affecting the global economic environment, including issues affecting the supply and demand of the world pepper market; regulations on quality control, the decisive role of farmers in the supply chain, especially balancing the use of chemicals and medicinal products of biological origin; new regulations from the international markets affecting the need to adjust farming processes, etc.
