On November 30, the People's Committee of Buon Don district held a conference to review the 2021-2022 winter-spring crop, review the 2022-seasonal crop and implement the 2022-2023 winter-spring crop production plan. Chairman of the District People's Committee presided the meeting.

The meeting

In the winter-spring crop of 2021-2022, despite many difficulties due to high prices of agricultural materials, complicated developments of diseases on crops and livestock, and volatile agricultural product prices, Buon Don district still achieved positive results. The whole district planted 1,818 hectares of annual plants, reaching 100% of the plan. The district People's Committee has directed specialized branches and localities to guide farmers to properly implement the seasonal schedule, use high-yielding crops  suitable to the soil conditions of each locality. Specifically, the winter-spring crop 2021-2022’s rice yield was 5.9 tons/hectare; maize yield was 5.5 tons/hectare. For the summer crop 2022, the total cultivated area was 14,027 hectares (in which, the summer-autumn crop was 11,068 hectares, reaching 100% of the plan; the fall-winter crop was 2,959 hectares, achieving 99% of the plan).

Livestock breeding has been basically stable, and the prevention and control of epidemics for livestock and poultry was paid regular attention. In 2022, Buon Don district only had one outbreak of African swine fever in Ea Nuol commune, forcing the destruction of 11 pigs weighing 344 kg; 01 outbreak of canine rabies in Krong Na commune, forcing the destruction of 3 infected dogs.

In order to support farmers to develop cultivation and husbandry, Buon Don district organized 42 training courses and seminars on techincal transfer, attracting 1890 participants; promptly upgraded, repaired and dredged in-field canals in service of irrigation; performed management of pests and diseases.

In the winter-spring crop of 2022 - 2023, Buon Don district will to plant 1855 hectares of annual crops; grain food production aims to reach 6225 tons.

Concluding the meeting, Mr. Le Van Nuoi - Vice Chairman of the District People's Committee emphasized that, in order to successfully implement the winter-spring crop of 2022 - 2023, the specialized departments of the district and People's Committees of communes are requested to regularly check and promptly restore damaged and degraded irrigation works; complete the construction of irrigation works that are eligible to be put into service; develop production in association with investment in intensive farming, implement synchronously from seeding, seasonality to cultivation methods; continue to develop models of intensive production, change the structure of plants and animals and aim for replication in the district; proactively develop plans to prevent natural disasters, minimize risks on production.
